D is for Date

Dates are high in natural sugar but are also packed with plenty of nutrients, making them an excellent snack in moderation.


Although they are a low glycemic index food if you are diabetic you will still need to be aware of your total sugar intake.


Dates can be used replace the sugar, chocolate chips, or sweets in recipes reduce the amount of refined sugars consumed.

  • High in polyphenols - antioxidant compounds that can protect the body from inflammation.

  • High in fibre

  • High in potassium

  • Also contain calcium, iron Magnesium Manganese, Niacin, Vitamin B6
